Taming My Arthritis

Archive for April, 2009

I've asked any doctor or pharmacist reading these questions to help answer mine, but if anyone if familiar with RLS and Mobic, please answer. Thank you.

Mobic is not indicated, on or off label, for Restless leg syndrome. Carbamezpine is indicated off label for RLS.

Does anyone have experience with the improvement of arthritic pain after moving south?

I don't know if this would help with osteoarthritis. My Mom has rheumatoid arthritis, and living in a warm (hot, actually, most of the year) place didn't help her to improve, at all. What helped was finding the right medicine for her (after many years of trying different medicines and treatments that didn't work), and exercising, especially swimming.

I hope that you find people that can give you better answers, and better advice, and I hope you find a solution for your pain, and get/feel better soon!!

Best of luck to you, my friend!!

Hugs!!

What diet should I follow? What medicines i need to take aside from pain relievers. That's all for now. Pls. reply asap.

Are you sure it's from Arthritis?

Or, could it be Chrondromalysia?
(pronounced Chon-dro-Malaysia)

This is Calcium crystals that form under kneecaps. And yes, it can be quite painful.

Before you self-diagnose the arthritis, you should check with a Doctor about Chrondromalysia.

I need help, what are some resources for people with rheumatoid arthritis

The arthritis foundation- you can google the #. There also was the American Chronic Pain Association (ACPA) that I found very helpful, not sure if they're still around.

I have been running for 10 years, but have had to stop due to pain I am getting in my knees which I suspect is arthritis?

Do certain foods make arthritis worse??

Cartilage is the third most precious material of your body. Good you stopped assaulting your joints!

it depends on what arthritis you have. If it is osteo-arthritis then you may use an OTC medication. (ask your pharmacist at a local pharmacy for treatment option best for you because I dont know your profile) But if you have rheumatoid arthritis, go see a physician. This is caused by your immune system attacking your joint areas. This cannot be treated with over the counter meds.

I would appreciate your input and results

I have Rheumatoid arthritis, Psoriasis and a prolapsed disc. I took up Aqua Jogging, which was interesting. I can swim, but could not grasp the concept of the floatation belt, until I arrived at the Class, conducted by a PT! So don the belt, get in the water and we are all lined up. Some have just had hip replacements. The PT tells us to start jogging and off they go. I am giving it my best but going nowhere fast? The PT says ‘Jog, you need to jog?’ I reply ‘I am’. Seems when you jog you lean forward, not stand upright! Once I leaned forward off I went. The session was 45 minutes and I really enjoyed it. However, I got to the ladder to get out, got as far as getting the upper body, waist and belt up the steps and bang! Reckon I suddenly weighed about three ton, it was staggering. Three sessions later, I was able to get out without the weight hitting me. Nine sessions later the PT was chasing me around the swimming pool trying to get me out! I can do so much more in the water than on land, if only I could stay! After the lesson we all head for the Sauna or Steam room, just to chat and relax. I have found it 100% beneficial and for the summer the lessons stop, but I will be going again come October. Many of the people who form the class have Arthritis, or are in form hip, knee replacemnts, loosing weight and we even had a female about 8 months pregnant, kinda worrying. Everyone returns becuse all they gain is benefit. The fact that you are weighless, almost like being on the Space Station, can really move all the joints in the full range, while in the water, excellent. Best of Luck

I have read that a sting from a honey bee can cure arthritis. My dad has arthritis and after reading about this, I got some honey bees for him, but he wouldn't try it, poosibly because i stupidly told him first, that the doctor didn't believe it (brainwashed by modern western medicine). He had half a new kneecap a few years ago and it's still giving him gip, and the other knee needs doing, but i think a bee sting would be less painful and alot quicker to heal. Has anyone tried it, and did it work?

I try the cream tha includes bee poison for my patients is very effective with out the bees sting those hurt really bad.

What does Rheumatoid Arthritis Feel Like?

Posted by: admin | Comments (4)

I'm doing research for a novelist who's writing about a character with rheumatoid arthritis. How does the pain, the sensations felt, differ from that of osteo arthritis? For example, in an old man or woman, how would such pain feel, in terms of, for example, spasmed muscles, gravelly joints, general achiness, and so on.

If anyone has personal experience, either first- or second-hand, please say so. Thank you.

The degree to which rheumatoid arthritis affects your daily activities depends in part on how well you cope with the disease. Talk to your doctor or nurse about strategies for coping. With time you'll find what strategies work best for you. In the meantime, try to:

Keep a positive attitude. With your doctor, make a plan for managing your arthritis. This will help you feel in charge of your disease. Studies show that people who take control of their treatment and actively manage their arthritis experience less pain and make fewer visits to the doctor.

What are the chances of a child inheriting arthritis and type 1 diabetes? There are heart murmurs in the family too, could that be hereditary? Thanks in advance!

If the mother is the carrier then it is very likely the child especially a boy will have inherited diabetes. Arthritis is most definitely an inherited disability. Heart murmurs, if a family trait then those too. However in these times none of these are live threatening as long you take medical help
